So today we didnt do much, we just asked Colin what he thought of our site so far and if there was anything we needed to fix before tomorrow. So at the moment we only have some irish pages, and only some of the site will be in portuguese but theres absolutely nothing we can do about it now. We just have to submit whatever we have now coz we dont have time to do anything else.
So basically theres no more time for translations, the only thing we have time left to fix is the structure. So I will be working on that tonite.

Lab Meeting #7
On Monday, we made final decisions on what domain we are going to use. We made a group decision that we were going to use .tk. Some of the group members had their recipes in the template Leanne provided. I showed the Tabs that I've created. On Tuesday, we noticed that not all of our templates looked the same, so we made some decisions to make all of our pages look similar(for example, we dont want full stops after all of our ingredients, and we do want full stops after all of the steps in the cooking instructions.) We swapped our pages with another group memeber, and we will correct the pages to the standards we set. When Leanne gets the pages from all of the group members, she will add them to the correct folders. Then, I will get them from Leanne, and link the tabs to the correct webpages. On Thursday, we will get our translations in Portuguese, which will mean that we will have over 120 pages. All we will have to do then is put our website on a server and we will be done.

Project Meeting #6: 13/11/08
In this meeting we looked into setting a logo for the site. We found a nice colourful one which said "cooking" in it so we just added "for students" underneath it. We found someone to add to our group who will hopefully be able to translate the site into portuguese in less than 2 weeks. But he didnt turn up for the class and we dont have his email but hopefully he will be able to get it done in time. for the deadline. We decided to take out the "takeaways" page altogether as Colin suggested that it doesnt really have anything to do with the site, in fact it contradicts it. We are all sending our recipes to Olga before the weekend so that she can started on them and we can put them into the site to get it done as quickly as possible. Something we need to discuss on tuesday is a name for the site as I realised that "www.cookingforstudents.com" is actually taken.... "www.recipesforstudents.com" however is available, and that's the only other possibility I could think of.

Project meeting #5: 12/11/08
Today in the lab, everyone was in which was great. We were looking at what people had come up with for the template, colour schemes and information for the main page. We tried out a few colours for the tabs and the different types of food. Had a problems with the translations again so we still have no idea what were going to do as we only have 2weeks left now and we will need to translate about 40 pages into 2 different languages...kinda stuck in a rut about this and noone seems to know the solution.

Project meeting #4: 6/11/08
Today only half the team was in again. So we decided on their behalf what each team member will do with the website:
Leanne: I will try to get a template done over the wknd, olga and florence have also given me some code to work with. Hopefully ill have it done by monday.
Olga: working with special characters in Polish, how we would translate them using our own keyboards.
Florence: working with the colour scheme of the website and the colour tshirts we will use for the logo.
Darragh: creating a header image and tab images in photoshop. So the header image would just say "Cooking for Students", and we can change the colour afterwards. The tabs would be "Home", "Irish", "Italian", "Mexican", "Tanzanian", "Chinese","Indian", "Takeaways", and we can change the colours of these afterwards too. It's just about coming up with a font and size that would look good.
Neil: look into buying or not buying a website? is it possible to use google analytics with a free website, and where would we get a free website anyway?
Philomena: main page information, we have all come up with our own content for the food type pages but we still dont know what to put on the main page. maybe stats about how students eat, places to buy cheap groceries...think of some others and get the information for them.
Please come up with something by tuesday. If you're not going to come in, please give your work to someone else or email it to one of us.
Also we think we might have to do Irish as a language, but I'm sure we can all make a fair stab at it...
Cye tuesday...
Thanks, Leanne

Project meeting #3 5/11/08
In the lab today, only half the team turned up so it was hard to work on anything, plus it seems nothing is really getting done anyway. So we thought maybe it would be better if I started on the code (even though I dont know when ill have time) and we could find other things for the rest of the team. Some other things that need to be done are:
1. How we transalte it to polish?, as in what are the special characters and are they available on our keyboards? -> maybe Olga?
2. The idea of a changing logo, maybe a logo for each type of food. Colin suggested the idea of having something static in each logo. Like 6 pictures of different students, each with a different colour tshirt on holding a spatula!?or something simple like that. So maybe its just a matter of bringing in a camera and a spatula and each of wearing a different colour. Each colour would then be used for that students tab in the food cuisine section.
3. Creating the cooking for students header image, maybe with photoshop or something?
4. Someone who feels like translating the code in a translator from the internet?
5. Are we going to buy a website or not? what do we call the website? look into getting this address sorted and starting the website so that we can test it.
6. We also need to think of an overall colour scheme for the whole site.
Please get back to me on who wants to do what, maybe just pick something, before you're left doing something you dont want to do...
We could talk about these tasks in the class 2moro...if everyone comes in.
Also Colin said that the finished website will be due in about 2/3 wks!!!
Aswell, we decided to take out Swahili as it would be hard to find a translator. So can everyone do an additional main course, starter and dessert instead. So we should each now have: 3mains, 3starters and 3desserts.
Thanks, Leanne

Project meeting #2 29/10/08
We came up with a sample layout that we would like for the different pages of the website. Nearly everyone has their own content ready so its just a matter of doing the coding. We talked about doing html and doing cascading style sheets. We are thinking of doing tabs on the main page but were not sure if itll work out.We were thinking of a layout that would be suitable for easy translation into polish and swahili.
